About Us
Seishin Budokan martial arts school was founded in 2009 in Broken Arrow, OK by Sensei - Scott Doerr. Sensei Doerr has over 30 years of martial arts experience. Starting in 1987 with Keichu Do (Sensei - Jeff Lane, now 7th Dan, Soke) and migrating through Tae Kwon Do (Sensei - Emilio Ybarro), Tang Soo Do (Master - J.D. Lawler), Jeet Kune Do (Sifu - Dwight Woods), and Aikido over the spread of years eventually starting Seishin Budokan upon being inducted into the Shisei Ryu Aikibudo Kai by Kaiso – Gary Ducote (9th Dan). I additionally received an Honorary promotion to Shodan by Kaiso – Daryl Chase (8th Dan) in the Art of Aikijujitsu.
We teach the Art of Shisei Ryu Aikibudo (One’s True Heart Method) founded by Kaiso Gary Ducote. Shisei Ryu Aikibudo in short was birthed from the Keichu Do style of self-defense style of martial arts. Our lineage has a traceable pedigree grounded in traditional orthodox martial arts stemming from Japanese patriarchs Gichin Funakoshi – Karate-Do, Jigoro Kano – Judo, Morihei Ueshiba – Aikido, Kenji Tomiki – Judo/Aikido, with heavy influences from Takeda Sōkaku of the Daito Ryu Aikijujutsu system. Because of my own background our focus is prominently Japanese based, but you will also find Korean influence being shared through our martial arts at the dojo level.
In our training place (dojo), we practice all of these disciplines of martial arts in a way that hardwires the practitioner to intuitively grasp the different aspects of each style making them effective at identifying threats on different levels and instilling confidence as they grow and mature into a respectable budoka. Let it likewise be noted that our expression of martial arts in no way resembles or is associated with the MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) association or the brutality of cage fighting. We want your physical, mental, and spiritual aptitudes to be enhanced to produce an abundant personal destiny.

Does Size Matter?
How many times have these very statements came in to play, "I am too small.", "They are too big..." or "they are bigger than I.", "I am a weakling." or "I am a girl." Anyone can enlist a plurality of reasonings to offset their constitutional need to defend themselves. People regardless of age, size, sex, or body type have a right to preserve their existence in the face of terminal danger. Being bullied is never fun and the end result is never one of confident satisfaction. The reality is predators exist and those who are not armed to resist defensively are their potential prey. The first step is taking the initiative to prepare yourself; this is accomplished through the practice of martial arts.
